TYSONS CORNER, VA, April 3, 2018 The U.S. Navy has awarded Concurrent Technologies Corp. a potential four-year, $6.4 million contract to provide additive manufacturing technology designed to help the service branch build metal-based components for air, sea and ground platforms, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.
CTC said March 27 it will join project team members SLM Solutions, MSC Software, MRL Materials Resources, the University of Pittsburgh and America Makes to develop and validate a proposed framework that uses the laser powder-bed fusion method to produce metal parts.
Ed Sheehan Jr., president and CEO of CTC, said the company and its project teammates will work to provide modern technology that can address the need for on-site parts replacement to help the Navy sustain military equipment.
