The Potomac Officers Club Adds Admiral Michael Rogers as Keynote for 5th Annual Cybersecurity Summit

Adm. Michael Rogers

TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 21, 2018 “ The Potomac Officers Club ” a division of Executive Mosaic ” has added Admiral Michael Rogers as a keynote speaker to the 5th Annual Cybersecurity Summit, which will be held on April 24th at the Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner at 1700 Tysons Blvd, McLean, VA.

Adm. Michael Rogers is currently the commander of the U.S. Cyber Command, director of the National Security Agency and Chief of the Central Security Service and has served in these capacities since April 2014. Since becoming a flag officer in 2007, Rogers has also served as the director for Intelligence for both the Joint Chiefs of Staff and U.S. Pacific Command. Most recently, Rogers served as commander of U.S. Fleet Cyber Command and the Tenth Fleet.

Adm. Rogers has said that one of the primary difficulties in today’s cybersecurity climate is enabling rapid responses to cyber threats. “Right now, the time it takes to deploy capability, the time it takes to coordinate a response across multiple organizations… that’s not optimized for speed. So to me, the biggest challenge is how to integrate this more at an execution level,” Rogers told the Senate Armed Services Committee in February.

“The Potomac Officers Club is excited to have Admiral Rogers as a keynote speaker for the 5th Annual Cybersecurity Summit,” said Jim Garrettson, President and CEO of Executive Mosaic. “With his extensive background and expertise in federal cybersecurity initiatives, Adm. Rogers will provide terrific insight into how the federal government and the military branches are strengthening U.S. cybersecurity protocols.”

In 2017, the number of cyber attacks nearly doubled compared to the previous year. Both federal agencies and private businesses were targeted in approximately 160k individual cyber incidents according to the Online Trust Alliance. The explosion in malicious cyber activity is pushing both the public and private sectors to place an increased emphasis in defensive and offensive cyber training, incorporating innovative technologies into federal cybersecurity practices, and implementing the Cybersecurity Framework outlined by NIST.
