CNSI to Build Labor Dept’s Medical Bill Processing System Under Potential $166M Contract

Rockville, Maryland-based health information technology company CNSI has secured a potential seven-year, $166 million contract from the Labor Department to build and operate a centralized medical bill processing system for DOL™s office of workers™ compensation programs.

Work on the contract will cover the receipt and evaluation of medical bills and related attachments against program authorizations, fraud detection operations and management of inquiries from claimants and health providers on medical services, CNSI said Tuesday.

The planned medical bill processing system marks the company™s second project with DOL and will support OWCP™s division of federal employees’ compensation; energy employees occupational illness compensation division; coal mine workers’ compensation division; and the division of longshore and harbor workers’ compensation.

CNSI President Adnan Ahmed said the company will leverage its experience in the development and implementation of the Medicaid Management Information System to deliver a medical bill processing platform to the department.

The company started its partnership with the department in 2007 through the delivery of software development services to DOL™s Mine Safety and Health Administration.
