Antonio Neri, president of Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE), will succeed Meg Whitman as CEO of the Palo Alto, California-based technology company in a move that takes effect Feb. 1, 2018.
Neri will also join the company™s board of directors as part of his promotion, HPE said Tuesday.
Whitman, who will continue to serve as a member of HPE™s board, has overseen several acquisitions that include SimpliVity, SGI, Aruba and Nimble Storage as well as the spinoff of HPE™s software and enterprise services businesses since she assumed the president and CEO roles in September 2011.
Neri was promoted to president in June after he served as executive vice president and general manager of HPE™s enterprise group and following the completion of the merger between HPE™s enterprise services segment and Computer Sciences Corp. to form DXC Technology (NYSE: DXC).
In his current role, Neri manages the company™s four principal business lines and HPE Next efforts that seek to increase the company™s competitive edge and performance.
He started his career at Hewlett-Packard as a customer service engineer in 1995 and elevated to senior leadership roles with responsibility over the firm™s printing and technology services businesses and enterprise group.
