Lori Scherer, formerly deputy director of intelligence portfolios at Mitre, has been named VP of intelligence portfolios at the National Security Engineering Center, a federally funded research and development center the nonprofit company manages for the Defense Department.
In her previous role, the more than 25-year company veteran worked with interdisciplinary teams to explore systems that can help address challenges U.S. intelligence agencies face, Mitre said Tuesday.
“Lori combines a keen understanding of the Intelligence Community’s sensitive missions with a strong focus on technical excellence and commitment to the public interest,” said William LaPlante, senior vice president and general manager of Mitre’s national security sector.
Scherer also previously served as a technical staff member and held positions within the organization’s IC, environmental and technical operations sectors.
Before Mitre, she worked as a senior member of the technical staff at Arthur D. Little and project leader at the Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center.
She currently serves on the technology and innovation council of the Intelligence and National Security Alliance and the intelligence committee of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.
