In recent weeks a number of significant private sector executive moves and potential federal moves have been announced. Let’s take a quick look at these executive movement and federal nominations.

On November 7th Accenture announced that John Goodman will serve as CEO of its federal services business, effective November 20th. Goodman has spent the last five years serving as the unit’s chief operating officer. Goodman previously acted as managing director of Accenture’s defense and intelligence business and management consulting division for the firm’s global public service operating group.
Prior to joining Accenture in 1998, Goodman spent five years in the public sector in various roles including deputy undersecretary and deputy assistant secretary for Industrial Affairs at the Department of Defense. Goodman also served on the White House’s National Economic Council.
Goodman is succeeding David Moskovitz, who will remain to assist with the AFS leadershiptransition through August 31st, 2018. Beginning in September of 2018, Moskovitz will shift to a senior managing director role with the company. Moskovitz, who has been with Accenture for over two decades, had led the company’s federal services business since 2012.
On November 2nd Teradata announced that Mark Culhane, a member of the CallidusCloud and UserZoom board of directors, had been selected as chief financial officer and principal accounting officer, effective November 10th. Culhane will also serve as an executive vice president, succeeding Stephen Scheppmann, who will be stepping down from his dual roles due to a medical leave of absence. Culhane has previously served as CFO at Lithium Technologies, DemandTec, iManage and SciClone Pharmaceuticals.
Teradata also announced that Eric Tom, former EVP of global sales at International GameTechnology, had joined the company as an EVP and chief revenue officer. Tom will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of go-to-market strategies worldwide at Teradata. Tom had previously served as VP of corporate and business development at Force10 Networks and CEO of Broadband Interactive TV.
At the end of October Susan Lawrence, formerly a senior vice president for Booz Allen Hamilton’s defense market group, was named as a managing director within the national security practice at Accenture Federal Services. Lawrence, a 40-year U.S. Army veteran, will aid AFS clients develop and implement mission support and technology transformation strategies to counter evolving threats. Prior to working with Accenture and Booz Allen Hamilton, Lawrence served as Army CIO, helping to establish the Army Cyber Command and was responsible for IT infrastructure, defense enterprise systems, C4 tools and other technology platforms used by warfighters and civilian workers. Lawrence also managed the Army’s IT, network and C4 functions during U.S. military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Recently, President Trump has announced his intent to nominate multiple individuals to key positions in his Administration.
On November 2nd, President Trump announced that he intends to nominate Michael K. Atkinson ofMaryland to be Inspector General of the Intelligence Community, Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Atkinson has previously served as an Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General and Senior Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the National Security Division of the Department of Justice. From 2006 to 2012, Atkinson was with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia serving as an Assistant United States Attorney. Prior to serving in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Atkinson spent four years as a Trial Attorney in the Fraud Section of the Criminal Division of the DoJ.
President Trump also announced his intent to nominate Linda Capuano of Texas to be an Administrator of the Energy Information Administration, Department of Energy on November 2nd. Capuano is a Ph.D. fellow at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy’s Center for Energy Studies and has previously served as vice president of technology at Marathon Oil Corporation; SVP of engineering design at Solectron Flextronics; EVP and CTO at Advanced Energy Industries; vice president of technology strategy at Honeywell; general manager of wide body aircraft auxiliary product units at AlliedSignal Aerospace; and manager in computer memory product development at IBM. Capuano was also a co-founder of Conductus, a Silicon Valley start-up, where she also served as chief financial officer. Currently, Capuano serves on the board of Peak Reliability and has served on the Board of the California Independent Systems Operator.
On October 2th, President Trump announced his intent to nominate Michael D. Griffin of Alabama to be Principal Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics. Dr. Griffin has most recently served as Chairman and CEO of the Schafer Corporation, a scientific, engineering and technical services and products provider in the national security field. Prior to that, Dr. Griffin served as the Administrator of NASA, where he established the architecture for space shuttle replacement and manned missions to the Moon. Furthermore, while at NASA Dr. Griffin initiated the first development of commercial cargo delivery service to Earth orbit in the agency’s history.
