Sercos North American arm has agreed to purchase Ludlow, Massachusetts-based BTP Systems for an undisclosed amount in a move to expand its client base and command, control, communications, computers, combat systems, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance services for the government sector.
Serco Inc. said Tuesday it expects to close the acquisition by the end of 2017, subject to approvals and other customary closing conditions.
BTP Systems provides shipboard and onshore SATCOM and radar antenna systems sustainment, maintenance and modernization services, test equipment and design support as well as field, obsolescence, and systems engineering services.
The company runs an antenna test range at its Massachusetts-based headquarters and has operations in Virginia, California, Nevada, South Carolina, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Florida.
Dave Dacquino, Serco Inc. chairman and CEO, said the acquisition complements the companys C5ISR business that works to support ship, shore and hardware integration projects through naval sustainment and modernization services.
Dacquino added that BTP would provide Serco Inc. with satellite communications and radar systems engineering, repair and sustainment capabilities as well as access to new defense clients that include the Naval Air Systems Command, Naval Undersea Warfare Center and Hill Air Force Base.
Dave Dacquino took over the helm of Serco in June and since that time the company has won several contract awards, totally approximately $250 million, and now look to complete the company’s first acquisition.
