Raytheon‘s (NYSE: RTN) missile systems business will serve as prime contractor of the proposed sale, which also covers containers; support equipment; spare and repair parts; U.S. government and contractor engineering; and other aspects of logistics and program support, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Wednesday.
DSCA added that the FMS deal will support U.S. foreign policy and national security by addressing a partner nation’s security and defense needs.
The sale will aid the Japanese air force’s homeland security efforts and help protect U.S. personnel stationed in Japan, DSCA noted.
The agency notified Congress of the possible sale on Wednesday.
