USAF Adds Textron Subsidiary, General Atomics to $499M Aerospace Vehicle R&D IDIQ


A Textron Systems (NYSE: TXT) subsidiary and a General Atomics business unit have won spots on a potential eight-year, $499 million contract to help the U.S. Air Force research and develop aerospace vehicle platforms for warfighters.

AAI Corp. and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems will perform work at their respective facilities in Maryland and California through Aug. 31, 2025, in support of the Aerospace Systems Air Platform Technology Research program, the Defense Department said Tuesday.

The Air Force Research Laboratory received six proposals for the indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract and will obligate $100,000 from fiscal 2017 R&D funds to each contractor at the time of award.

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) also secured a spot on the IDIQ contract days after the Air Force initially awarded Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) and Aurora Flight Sciences positions on the contract.
