The contract has an eight-year base period valued at $633 million and work will include refit, repair, maintenance and training services, Thales said Thursday.
The company estimates the contract will contribute more than $198 million to Canada’s economy through research-and-development efforts in the predictive maintenance, life-cycle management and logistics support analysis areas.
Thales has supported the Canadian navy’s Victoria-class submarines, Kingston-class maritime coastal defense vessels, Iroquois-class destroyers and Halifax-class frigates over the past 50 years.
