James Cannon, a more than 16-year veteran of Stanley Black & Decker, will serve as president and CEO of Wilsonville, Oregon-based sensor design and manufacturing firm FLIR Systems beginning June 19.
He will succeed Andrew Teich, who is due to retire in February after an 18-year career at Flir, the company said Tuesday.
“Our board of directors conducted a thorough search process, in which Jim distinguished himself as a true leader of leaders and demonstrated his experience and adaptability running business units worldwide,” said Earl Lewis, chairman of FLIR’s board.
Cannon previously served as president of North American and emerging markets at Stanley Black & Decker’s security segment, where he oversaw five business units, more than 5,000 employees and the operations of manufacturing plants and distribution centers.
He also held the president role at Stanley’s industrial-and-automotive repair and oil-and-gas businesses.
Cannon is a U.S. Army veteran who served as an infantryman and armor officer in various assignments worldwide, including Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm in Iraq.
