Nelson Ford to Retire as LMI President & CEO

Nelson Ford

Nelson Ford, president and CEO of LMI over the past eight years, has informed the Virginia-based nonprofit government consulting firm’s board of directors that he plans to retire from his dual role this spring.

LMI said Thursday Ford will continue to serve until a successor is found and the board partnered with executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles (Nasdaq: HSII) to find a new CEO for LMI.

Under Ford’s leadership, the company implemented efforts to expand the company’s regional footprint and offerings for the federal market.

“His commitment to improving the management of government and to our people is unequaled, “ said Michael Daniels, chairman of LMI’s board of directors.

Ford joined the company in January 2009 after he previously served as undersecretary of the U.S. Army,  assistant secretary of the Army for financial management and comptroller and deputy assistant secretary for health budgets and financial policy at the Defense Department.

He also held the roles of president and CEO at a medical manufacturing firm,  chief operating officer and chief financial officer at Georgetown University Medical Center and manager of Coopers & Lybrand‘s health care consulting practice.
