NASA Taps Johns Hopkins APL to Develop Components for Asteroid Exploration Missions


TYSONS CORNER, VA, Jan. 10, 2017 ” Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory will develop components for a pair of NASA Discovery missions that seek to explore and study six of Jupiter’s Trojan asteroids and the 16 Psyche metal asteroid, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.

APL said Friday it will develop a telescopic camera and an elemental composition measurement and detection tool for the Lucy and Psyche missions, respectively, in efforts to help scientists understand planetary origins and the history of the solar system.
