Weekly Roundup December 5 – December 9, 2016: Vectrus Brings Aboard New CEO & more

December 5 – December 9, 2016

A Note From Our President & Founder Jim Garrettson

GovCon industry leaders and observers welcomed Vectrus to the government services landscape in the autumn of 2014 and this week marks the beginning of a new era for the Colorado Springs-based company.

As covered on GovCon Wire Tuesday, public sector market veteran Chuck Prow has started as CEO of Vectrus and will steer the contractor through its next steps two years out from its launch.

Vectrus is the former Mission Systems business of Exelis that spun out in 2014 to act as a pure-play government services company and let both entities pursue growth in their core focus areas.

In turn, Exelis shifted to a strategy largely focused on the manufacturing of defense technologies and aerostructures prior to its $4.75 billion acquisition by Harris in May 2015.

Prow more recently led Fairfax, Virginia-headquartered CPS Professional Services for one year as president and upon his August 2015 appointment spoke to our staff in an exclusive interview to describe his next professional chapter at the time.

œI greatly enjoyed my 25 years at Coopers & Lybrand, PwC and IBM. It was an amazing journey that offered opportunities to work with governments and businesses in the U.S. and worldwide. I™m proud to be an IBMer and now-retired IBM executive.

œI always had a desire to spend the next phase of my career in an entrepreneurial, public sector-oriented growth company, Prow said.

Now begins the next phase of Vectrus in its journey through an ever-changing government services market environment,  and for Prow as its new leader with a New Year approaching.
