State Dept Clears $200M Poland Request for Lockheed Air-to-Surface Missiles


MissileDefenseThe State Department has approved a potential $200 million foreign military sale of Lockheed Martin-built (NYSE: LMT) Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile Extended Range systems,  equipment and training services to Poland.

Poland ordered 70 units of AGM-158B JASSM-ER, two flight test vehicles, two mass simulant vehicles, one flight test vehicle and three separation test vehicles, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Monday.

The deal also covers two AGM-158B weapon system simulators, F-16 operational flight plan upgrade for the Polish F- 16C/D, JASSM-ER integration, missile containers, spare and repair parts, support and test equipment and technical documentation support.

DSCA said that Poland will use the defense equipment to deter threats from enemy air and ground weapons systems and strengthen the country’s homeland defense.

Th country also intends for the weapon systems to modernize its air-to-ground strike capabilities as well as assist in future NATO operations.
