TYSONS CORNER, VA, Oct. 25, 2016 Harris (NYSE: HRS) has received a four-year, $55 million contract to provide sustainment services for an electronic warfare system that works to protect the U.S. Air Force‘s B-52 strategic bombers and C-130 military transport aircraft from radar-guided threats, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.
The company said Monday it will overhaul an ALQ-172 line replaceable unit and provide software development and test services.
“Hostile air defense systems are becoming more sophisticated and accessible in global conflict zones, ” said Ed Zoiss, president of Harris electronic systems business.
He noted that the B-52 will require an electronic warfare technology that will serve to counter potential threats as the aircraft operates as part of U.S. strategic airpower.
