Adam Clater, chief cloud architect at Red Hat‘s (NYSE: RHT) North America public sector organization, has said federal information technology administrators should implement a strategy that seeks to automate application management, security and deployment in order to facilitate workload migration to the cloud.
Clater wrote that federal agencies should also consider how to automate the use of cloud resources in order to fully realize the benefits of cloud adoption.
If your virtual servers require human interaction for provisioning or updating, seek tooling to automate those processes, he said.
The same goes for application deployment and scaling.
Clater added that government agencies should adopt a staged approach to cloud deployment through the use of a small system of engagement or a user-focused application instead of apps that demand a wholesale change to existing data and application infrastructure.
