RAF 6 Squadron Eurofighter Typhoons on Exercise Bersama Lima 11 in MalaysiaBAE Systems and Leonardo-Finmeccanica have entered into an estimated $664 million arrangement to provide avionics support for the U.K.’s Typhoon fleet.

Leonardo-Finmeccanica said Wednesday its airborne and space systems segment will work with BAE under the Joint Avionics Solution agreement to support Typhoon’s avionics equipment in the next decade.

The arrangement will be part of a potential 10-year, $2.8 billion agreement BAE has earlier inked with the U.K.’s defense ministry for the Typhoon Total Availability Enterprise initiative that looks to consolidate contracts with suppliers throughout Europe.

Leonardo-Finmeccanica provides infrastructure, avionics and onboard electronics for the U.K.’s Typhoon aircraft, which make up 36 percent of the program value, and the company also supplies 60 percent of the aircraft’s avionics.

The Rome, Italy-based company will perform work for the Typhoon aircraft in the U.K. and Italy.
