Irvine, California-based company N2 Imaging Systems has landed an $81 million firm-fixed-price contract from the U.S. Army for the engineering, manufacturing, development and production of the Family of Weapons Sights – Sniper thermal sight system.
The Defense Department said Friday the Army will use the clip-on thermal weapon sight to help snipers engage targets in any light level and address visibility challenges.
The Army Contracting Command awarded the contract, which will cover work through June 2, 2021, DoD said.
The department added that funding and work locations will be announced upon the issuance of each order.
The FWS program provides thermal sights to support target acquisition and surveillance and comes in the FWS Individual, FWS Crew Served and FWS Sniper variants.
