Cubic Corp. (NYSE: CUB) has promoted David Buss to president of the San Diego-based contractor’s global defense segment and Mike Twyman to president of the company’s newly-established mission solutions business division as part of a realignment initiative.
The company said Wednesday Buss, a senior vice president in the global defense segment; and Twyman, executive VP of the communications, intelligence and surveillance systems; have also both received a corporate SVP title and will report to CEO Brad Feldmann.
Buss, a 36-year U.S. Navy veteran and retired vice admiral, will succeed Bill Toti as head of a global defense segment that was formed in February 2015 from the consolidation of Cubic’s defense systems and missions support services businesses.
Cubic recorded $864.2 million in global defense revenue during its 2015 fiscal year that runs on an October-September basis to represent approximately 60.4 percent of total company sales during that period.
Buss will oversee the business strategy for the defense segment’s NextTraining program, which aims to identify new platforms for integration with defense training systems.
Twyman will be in charge of the TeraLogics, XD Solutions, GATR Technologies, DTECH Labs and other command, communications, control, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance businesses within the mission solutions division that now serves as a formalized organization within Cubic, the company said.
Cubic acquired GATR and TeraLogics in December for $261.5 million combined one year after the purchase of communications equipment provider DTECH Labs for $114.5 million.
Twyman joined Cubic in July 2014 after a three-decade career at Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), where he held senior leadership roles such as SVP and GM of the defense systems division and VP of joint network systems.
