Raytheon Lands $76M Navy Contract for Sea Sparrow Missile Long Lead Items


Raytheon logoRaytheon (NYSE: RTN) has received a $76.1 million contract from the U.S. Navy to procure long lead materials for the production of the first block of anti-ship missile defense systems for the service branch and foreign clients.

The long lead materials will support the production of Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles for fiscal years 2016, 2017 and 2018 for the Navy as well as Australia, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Norway under the NATO Sea Sparrow Consortium, the Defense Department said Wednesday.

The Naval Sea Systems Command serves as the contracting activity and obligated the contract™s full amount at the time of award from the Navy™s fiscal 2016 weapons procurement, foreign military sales and international funds.

Raytheon will perform production work in Germany, Norway, Australia and Denmark and in Arizona, California, Ohio and Texas through May 2018.

ESSM is built to provide air defense against various threats from aircraft, high- and low-velocity air threats and high divers.
