The Defense Department said Thursday the first modification requires mission assurance and other services for the Ballistic Missile Early Warning System Pave Phased Array Warning System under the Exelis-led System Engineering and Sustainment Integrator program.
For the second deal, Exelis will provide support for the Perimeter Acquisition Radar Attack Characterization System — including hardware repairs, spares, licenses and subscriptions — at the Cavalier Air Force Base under the SENSOR program, DoD added.
Work will occur through April 30, 2017, for the first contract modification while the second is scheduled to be completed by April 30, 2018.
PAWS systems work to detect ballistic missile attacks and conduct space surveillance for the U.S. Missile Warning and Space Control Centers, the U.S. National Military Command Center and U.S. Strategic Command.
The 125-feet PARCS radar building is designed to provide missile warning and space surveillance for the North American Aerospace Defense Command, USSTRATCOM and regional combatant commanders.
