State Dept Approves $260M Raytheon-Made Rolling Airframe Missiles Sale to Qatar


RollingAirframeThe State Department has cleared a proposed $260 million foreign military sale of Raytheon-built (NYSE: RTN) Rolling Airframe Missiles and related equipment to Qatar.

Qatar ordered 252 RIM-116C rolling airframe tactical missiles and two RIM 116C-2 rolling airframe telemetry missiles in efforts to protect its naval forces and oil and gas infrastructure from missile threats, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday.

The proposed sale includes $227 million in major defense equipment, DSCA noted.

Raytheon’s missile systems business will also provide documentation, personnel training, engineering, logistics, live fire test and integration services under the FMS program.

Government and contractor representatives will participate in program and technical reviews as well as system integration and maintenance in Qatar over a 36-month period as part of the deal.
