Jonathan Greenert, a retired U.S. Navy admiral and formerly its top uniformed officer, has joined the board of directors at BAE Systems Inc. – the British contractor’s U.S. subsidiary — and will serve for a term of up to three years.
Board Chairman Michael Chertoff said Tuesday the subsidiary elected Greenert to the board for his 40 years of leadership, strategic planning and operations experience from his military career.
Greenert served as CNO from 2011 to 2015 after two years as vice CNO.
As CNO, he led the military branch’s efforts to build advanced weaponry and unmanned underwater vehicles as well as provided advice to the defense secretary and the U.S. president on maritime security, budget and fleet matters.
He also served as commanding officer of the USS Honolulu submarine and commander of four fleet commands at the Navy.
