A Vienna, Virginia-based contractor that has been among the most prominent small businesses in federal contracting has started a new path in its two-decade journey from humble beginnings.
Indus Corp., the IT services provider started in 1993 by Shiv Krishnan, announced this week it hasbecome a part of global engineering contractor Tetra Tech as both companies seek growth in the environment and water sectors.
It is an extraordinary opportunity for us to join a firm that broadens our IT technical capabilities focused on data analytics, cloud provisioning, and mobility services for projects across Tetra Techs end markets, Krishnan said.
Krishnan, a native of India who moved to the U.S. in 1979, has been an advocate for the small business contracting community since Indus start and was recognized by the Small Business Administration in 2002 with a Small Business Person of the Year award.
SBA gives that award to leaders of small business owners nominees deem as those that represent the nations strong entrepreneurial spirit and rich diversity.
Now under one umbrella, Indus and Tetra Tech have singled out data analytics and geospatial analysis as key areas for market expansion at federal agencies with projects and programs related to water management.
Pasadena, California-based Tetra Tech reported $2.3 billion in revenue during its last fiscal year with roughly one-fifth of that from federal agencies, according to figures from Bloomberg Government.
