Cashman, a 28-year finance veteran at EMC, will succeed the departing CFO Zane Rowe on March 1 and will oversee all financial operations for the company’s consolidated business, EMC said Tuesday.
EMC made the appointment in preparation for its merger with Dell, which agreed to purchase the Massachusetts-based data storage firm for approximately $67 billion in cash and stock in October 2015.
Rowe will serve as CFO of EMC’s VMware (NYSE: VMW) subsidiary, which will continue to operate as a publicly traded firm once the transaction is completed.
“I look forward to Denis’ continued contributions as we embark on an exciting year ahead, including some of the most significant portfolio enhancements in our company’s history, ” said Joe Tucci, chairman and CEO of EMC.
“As we drive our business forward, while working toward completing the Dell transaction, we are highly confident that Zane’s broad industry expertise and skills will serve VMware and its shareholders well, ” Tucci added.
