John Sahlin, a senior technology executive, announced on LinkedIn Friday that he has been appointed vice president of cyber pursuit at General Dynamics Information Technology.
The seasoned executive is tasked with driving GDIT’s growth in the field of cybersecurity and developing strategies for its expansion in the defense sector.
He will leverage his extensive experience in technical, program and business management along with his deep knowledge of systems engineering and architecture, cloud computing acquisition management and technology strategy. The new VP also brings a proven track record in leading cross-functional teams, managing profit and loss, fostering innovation and directing intellectual property investment programs.
John Sahlin’s Career History
The executive has been with GDIT for four years, most recently as VP of cyber solutions. He previously served as director of cyber solutions for defense, where he led a team of cybersecurity experts and system architects tasked with advancing cybersecurity capabilities through the utilization of ICAM, secure access service edge, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics.
Sahlin previously served as senior program manager at Serco, overseeing a team handling a Navy shipbuilding program. He was the chief technology officer of ICI Services and technical director of the defense and security group at Engility.
The GDIT executive also spent time at Hewlett Packard Enterprise as account chief technologist and as CTO of Cabrillo Technologies, a subsidiary of McKean Defense, which was acquired by Noblis in 2021. He also spent around nine years at SAIC as chief engineer for Space and Naval Warfare and deputy division manager for business development.
Sahlin is also currently an adjunct professor at George Washington University, where he has been teaching in the School of Engineering and Applied Science for over 12 years. He also taught at Coleman University and the University of Phoenix.
The GDIT VP also served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve and a lieutenant in the Navy.
