Wayne Sallurday, senior director of federal services sales at Dell Technologies, said 5G plays a key role in advancing the federal government’s IT modernization efforts and delivering enhanced defense capabilities to warfighters.
In an article published on Carahsoft.com, Sallurday wrote that 5G could help improve data-driven decision-making and enhance citizen engagement by facilitating the secure delivery of government services.
Empowering Warfighters
The Dell Technologies executive stated that 5G enables military personnel to field tactical edge computing and cloud-based platforms to improve their ability to quickly make data-driven decisions in complex environments while ensuring the security of their operations.
“In terms of cybersecurity, 5G offers highly secure, resilient networks capable of supporting classified operations while enabling continuous connectivity for military personnel across various domains,” he noted.
According to Sallurday, 5G could enhance military operations by enabling autonomous drones to transmit sensor data, high-definition video and other intelligence data to command centers; process data locally; and communicate with one another in real time.
Gaining Actionable Insights
Sallurday noted that 5G could enable agencies to leverage artificial intelligence, data analytics, cloud, edge computing and other technologies and link a large number of devices to glean actionable insights from data.
“As a result, data can be collected from an exponentially larger number of sensors, devices and systems for feeding into advanced analytics and AI models. This creates opportunities to gain insights that were previously out of reach,” he added.
Supporting Government’s Expanding 5G Needs
In this piece, the federal sales industry leader cited how Dell Technologies helps government agencies meet their expanding 5G requirements through its scalable hardware, infrastructure, hybrid cloud, security platforms and expertise in consulting and integration.
“Dell’s hybrid cloud solutions take full advantage of 5G’s speed and agility so the government can manage data across diverse environments and access real-time analytics, helping decision-makers respond quickly to evolving situations,” Sallurday wrote. “To protect sensitive information across 5G networks, Dell provides government-grade security solutions that meet compliance standards and include hardware encryption and advanced threat detection.”
