RTX business Raytheon has received a U.S. Navy contract modification worth approximately $141 million for the procurement of Standard Missile-2 and spares.
Scope of Contract Modification
The Department of Defense said Thursday the contract action combines purchases for the governments of Japan, Australia, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands under the foreign military sales program.
Naval Sea Systems Command expects work to occur in East Camden, Arkansas, and Tucson, Arizona, through June 2030.
In December 2021, Raytheon secured a $578 million contract modification from the Navy to help FMS customers address production requirements for SM-2 all-up rounds, spares, instrumentation kits and engineering services.
What Is SM-2?
SM-2 is a surface-to-air defense weapon designed to protect naval assets from anti-ship missiles and aircraft at an altitude of 65,000 feet.
The missile can be launched from the MK-41 Vertical Launcher System and MK-57 Advanced VLS and features radar-seeker technologies designed to engage high-speed maneuvering threats and radar targeting and directional warheads.
According to Raytheon, more than 12,000 SM-2 missiles have been delivered to the U.S. and its allies.
