The Department of Defense said Monday the contract covers managed services support for Project Night Owl, handled by the Air Force Lifecycle Management Center. As the managed service provider, or MSP, Leidos will be responsible for managing and maintaining the critical national security system by delivering network, application, infrastructure and security support services.
The Reston, Virginia-headquartered IT company will conduct work for the project at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma, as well as in Northern Virginia. The contract is anticipated to be completed by Feb. 2, 2030.
The AFLMC at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio is the contracting activity and is allocating the initial amount of $23.7 million from the fiscal 2024 research and development budget at the time of the award.
The contract was a competitive acquisition with seven vendors submitting their offers.
