Steve Kutchi has been elevated to vice president of engineering and chief technology officer at Thales Defense & Security Inc., the executive shared on LinkedIn Wednesday.
In his dual role, Kutchi will oversee TDSI’s technology strategy, product design and development and all engineering services, including engineering labs, production support, model shop, integrated logistics support and configuration management. He will also provide leadership across various disciplines such as systems engineering, mechanical engineering, embedded software, digital hardware, radio frequency and analog hardware, digital signal processing and optics.
Steve Kutchi’s Thales Career
Kutchi has been with Thales for over two decades, having joined the international defense electronics company in 2004. Before his most recent promotion, he served as director of hardware and support engineering for almost five years leading the company’s efforts in designing and developing high-reliability communications electronics, satellite communication terminals, software defined radios and other vital equipment.
The executive also served as manager of the mechanical design and engineering support group for over nine years and staff engineer from 2004 to 2011.
Before joining Thales, Kutchi worked at Hughes Network Systems from 1997 to 2004 as a senior member of the technical staff. As the lead mechanical engineer, he was responsible for the company’s satellite VSAT ground terminal and terrestrial wireless terminal products.
