Melanie Heitkamp was elected by the board of directors of Northrop Grumman to serve as corporate vice president and chief human resources officer, effective Feb. 3.
The Falls Church, Virginia-based contractor said Monday Heitkamp will have oversight of the HR organization of Northrop and will report to Kathy Warden, chair, CEO and president of the company and a nine-time Wash100 Award recipient.
“Melanie is a highly respected business leader, and with her HR expertise and experience across multiple industries, I’m confident she’ll help further shape our strong culture, employee experience and company performance,” commented Warden.
Melanie Heitkamp’s Career Highlights
The incoming CVP and CHRO currently serves as vice president of human resources within the space systems sector of Northrop. The executive previously worked as the company’s VP of talent.
Heitkamp’s career also includes time serving as chief human resources officer at the former L3 Technologies company and holding senior leadership positions at Leidos and Lockheed Martin.
In addition, Heitkamp used to work for Target and PricewaterhouseCoopers.
She will succeed Ann Addison, who is retiring from the company on March 28.
Commenting on Addison’s retirement, Warden highlighted the outgoing executive’s contribution to the company, “She has been instrumental in building our culture, expanding our workforce and driving operational improvements, which will continue to support our company’s future.”
