Boeing has appointed Dana Deasy, former chief information officer at the Department of Defense, as CIO, chief information digital officer and senior vice president of IT and data analytics.
The aerospace and defense contractor said Friday Deasy succeeds Susan Doniz, who stepped down from the CIO position in late 2024, and will report to Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg.
The former DOD CIO will be part of the Arlington, Virginia-based company’s Executive Council as he oversees IT, information security, analytics and data.
“Dana is a well-respected, global technology leader who has a track record of delivering on innovative technologies across large and complex organizations,” said Ortberg.
“With the need to stay vigilant to protect against cyber threats, and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence playing a larger role across all industries, our IT team will have a key role as we focus on meeting our safety and quality goals, delivering reliably for our customers and positioning ourselves for the future,” the chief executive added.
Dana Deasy’s Career Background
Deasy has over four decades of leadership and technology experience across multiple industries.
As the Pentagon’s former CIO, he served as the defense secretary’s primary adviser on IT, information management and information assurance matters. He also offered advice related to critical satellite communications, spectrum, telecommunications, non-intelligence space systems, and navigation and timing programs.
The two-time Wash100 Award recipient held CIO roles at several companies, including JPMorgan Chase, BP and General Motors.
He began his career in information management at Rockwell’s space systems division.
