Airbus Provides UH-72 Lakota Support

The award adds contractor support to the $14.3 million deal the military branch awarded in 2022.

Airbus provides the Army with the UH-72 Lakota helicopters, which are often used for public safety, transportation and law enforcement missions.

In 2022, the aerospace and defense company also secured a $1.5 billion follow-on contract for UH-72 Lakota engineering support, spare parts and other related materials and services.

The award comes months after the company demonstrated the capability of an uncrewed aerial system version of the Lakota military vehicle to carry specialized cargo. The demonstration was conducted under the Aerial Logistics Connector rapid prototyping program contract designed to develop advanced technologies for aerial logistics.

According to Airbus, the unmanned UH-72 can carry 2,000-pound missiles and can serve as an electronic warfare system. The aircraft also comes with new controls.
