Sparton Books $107M Navy Contract Option for Sonobuoy Production

Sparton has secured a potential two-year, $107.1 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to continue producing and delivering AN/SSQ-125 modified high-duty-cycle sonobuoys to support training, testing and peacetime operations.

The Department of Defense said the award covers the production of up to 20,000 sonobuoys to help maintain sufficient inventory to support potential major combat operations.

Naval Air Systems Command issued the modification to exercise an option under a $106.4 million contract awarded in late March.

The company will perform work at locations in Florida and Indiana through December 2026.

Developing Maritime Electronic Systems

Sparton is a subsidiary of Elbit Systems of America that designs, develops, tests and produces maritime electronic systems to support anti-submarine warfare and undersea warfare missions.

The company’s DeLeon Springs facility in Florida produces sonobuoys and other maritime capabilities for the U.S. Navy and allied forces worldwide.
