Michael Bate was elevated to the role of vice president and general manager of large caliber ammunition and artillery systems at General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems, the executive announced in a LinkedIn post.
Bate has been working at GD-OTS for more than six years now, initially joining the General Dynamics business in 2018 as a senior director responsible for leading the Direct and Indirect Fire Large Caliber Ammunition Program teams supporting domestic and international requirements.
He then took on other senior director roles before assuming his most recent post as executive director/GM of large caliber ammunition and artillery systems.
Bate also spent nearly a decade at BAE Systems in program manager and director roles. Some of his previous responsibilities at the defense contractor were managing the development, prototyping and transition to production of Multiple Launch Rocket System program and implementing a holistic project management discipline across the BAE Systems Land & Armaments sector.
Earlier in his career, the new GD-OTS vice president worked as a business process system specialist, deputy program manager and the business planning manager at General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products.
