Federal consulting firm Markon has acquired JY Systems for an undisclosed sum as part of efforts to expand its software, systems and cyber engineering capabilities in support of government cybersecurity and signals intelligence missions.
Markon said Friday it will operate the Maryland-based IT and cybersecurity services provider as an independent subsidiary.
Enhancing National Security Capabilities
JY Systems employs a team of IT consultants providing services across various areas, including cloud computing, network architecture and cybersecurity, in support of customers within the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community.
Markon CEO Ray Carney welcomed the addition of JY Systems to the company.

With the acquisition, Markon will integrate technical professionals, gain key clientele that broadens its presence across primary intelligence agencies and strengthen its foundation for mission-critical technology platforms.
Consulting Firm Focused on Federal Government
Markon, a portfolio company of private equity firm Sterling Investment Partners, supports defense, intelligence and civilian agencies by providing services across the areas of enterprise technology, critical infrastructure and business operations.
Cohn Reznick provided financial advisory services to Markon, while Morrison & Foerster, Dechert and Seyfarth Shaw served as the consulting firm’s legal advisers.
KPMG Corporate Finance and Miles and Stockbridge acted as exclusive financial adviser and legal counsel, respectively, to JY Systems.
