Lockheed Martin has named Maria Demaree, a more than 30-year company veteran, as senior vice president of enterprise business and digital transformation and chief information officer in a string of leadership appointments.
The company said Tuesday Demaree, who currently serves as VP and general manager of Lockheed’s national security space business or NSS, will succeed the retiring Yvonne Hodge and will report to Chief Operating Officer Frank St. John.
Dave Young, most recently deputy VP and general manager of NSS, will succeed Demaree as head of the NSS business line, effective Jan. 1.
Demaree’s Career Background
As head of Lockheed’s national security space, Demaree oversees over 8,000 employees and the execution of a $6.6 billion portfolio of critical defense and intelligence programs.
The two-time Wash100 awardee is a thought leader on various defense programs, including Combined Joint All-Domain Command and Control, open systems approach, autonomous space systems and software-defined satellite architecture.
She serves as board chairman of Zeta Associates and is a member of several organizations, including the Intelligence and National Security Alliance and the National Space Security Association.
Kevin O’Connor as Lockheed’s General Counsel
The Bethesda, Maryland-based defense and aerospace contractor selected Kevin O’Connor to succeed the retiring Maryanne Lavan as SVP, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective Jan. 13.
O’Connor most recently served as SVP and chief legal officer for Carrier, where he was responsible for legal and compliance matters and government and regulatory affairs.
The former U.S. associate attorney general’s industry career included time as chief legal officer at Point72, VP of global ethics and compliance at UTC and a partner at law firm Bracewell.
John Clark’s Appointment as SVP for Tech & Strategic Innovation
John Clark, VP and GM of Skunk Works, will transition to the role of SVP for technology and strategic innovation and report to Lockheed CEO Jim Taiclet, effective Jan. 1. He will also oversee LM Ventures in his new portfolio.
His previous roles at Lockheed include VP of engineering and technology and VP of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance and unmanned aircraft systems for Skunk Works.
OJ Sanchez, currently VP of integrated fighter group, will succeed Clark as head of Skunk Works.
Tony DeSimone to Serve as Lockheed SVP of Enterprise Engineering
Tony DeSimone, currently VP of enterprise engineering at Lockheed, will assume the role of SVP of enterprise engineering and report to St. John, effective Jan. 1.
DeSimone, who has nearly 28 years of experience at Lockheed, previously served as VP of engineering and technology for the company’s rotary and mission systems business area.
Lockheed appointed Clark and DeSimone to the new roles as Rod Makoske, who currently serves as chief engineer and SVP of engineering and technology, plans to retire.
To ensure a smooth transition, Hodge, Lavan and Makoske will serve as strategic advisers.
