Boeing has received a U.S. Army contract worth $135 million to provide three additional CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopters as part of the military branch’s modernization efforts.
The company said Wednesday the Lot 3 order follows the Army’s announcement in February about the CH-47F Block II program’s transition to full-rate production and brings the total number of Chinooks under contract to nine aircraft.
“It is critical soldiers get to their destinations and have the equipment they need to accomplish the mission,” said Heather McBryan, vice president and program manager of Boeing Cargo Programs. “The CH-47F Block II’s increased payload capacity and expanded range enables the U.S. Army to meet evolving heavy-lift mission requirements around the world.”

The CH-47F Block II aircraft features an improved airframe, drivetrain and upgraded fuel system, increasing lift capability by 4,000 pounds and extending the mission radius of nearly all payloads.
The Army expects the Block II Chinook to continue flying for another four decades.
Army Block II Chinook Deliveries
The service branch received the first delivery of the Boeing-built CH-47F Block II Chinook helicopter in June. The second production aircraft was delivered in September.
According to the defense and aerospace contractor, the Army secured congressional funding for three additional aircraft under the next production lot and awarded Boeing a procurement contract for long lead parts.
