ARKA Group has closed its purchase of Maxar Technologies’ radar and sensor technology, or RST, group in a transaction that expands its synthetic aperture radar, moving target indication and geospatial intelligence capabilities designed to address emerging threats facing the U.S. government and its allies.
The defense and space manufacturing company said Friday the RST group will operate as part of its advanced communications and mission applications business unit.
The ARKA business unit provides radio frequency and software-based platforms for advanced information processing, data transport and mission management.
“With our existing space hardware and leading software capabilities, this acquisition will allow ARKA to provide more powerful and flexible solutions to our customers’ ever evolving and demanding mission needs,” said Andreas Nonnenmacher, CEO of ARKA and a 2024 Wash100 awardee.
The RST group is based in Ypsilanti, Michigan, and has supported the U.S. government-led SAR programs.
“ARKA is combining our long history of execution, valuable intellectual property and unique talent pools to generate new products that deliver intelligence at scale and with the speed needed to support the modern warfighter,” said Eric Stuckey, the company’s chief operating officer.
