VA Releases RFI for AI Programs, Governance Support for Veterans

The Department of Veterans Affairs has issued a request for information to determine possible artificial intelligence programs and governance support to enhance services for veterans.

According to the notice published on Sam.gov Thursday, the department is seeking industry input on how to utilize AI to manage, operationalize and implement a safe governance process without overstepping the rights of individuals while benefitting veterans, VA healthcare providers and VA employees.

The AI-enhanced process or service should also be capable of providing actionable remediation strategies to address any issues when necessary.

Furthermore, the VA has to be committed and prepared to leverage AI in providing services to veterans with transparency, accountability and compliance with government standards as priorities.

The VA Office of the Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer, which also serves as the Office of the Chief Technology Officer, is responsible for developing and implementing AI-enabled products and services aimed at enhancing services to veterans.
