Special Aerospace Services, a provider of space and defense engineering and mission-critical communications systems, has acquired Alabama-based missile and hypersonic weapons company Concordia Technologies.
The strategic acquisition is part of SAS’ efforts to position itself as a leader in the defense technology market, the Godspeed Capital Management-backed company said Monday.

Heather Bulk, CEO of SAS, commented that the addition of Concordia’s experience in hypersonic systems and missile defense into the SAS portfolio empowers the company to better support national security missions.
“The future of our defense strategy lies in the continued funding and development of advanced technologies such as hypersonics, which will play a pivotal role in ensuring our nation’s security in the coming decades,” the executive said.
Tim Johnson, CEO of Concordia, added that the acquisition creates new opportunities for collaboration.
“With SAS’s renowned dedication to national security & space initiatives and our expertise in hypersonics and missile defense, we look forward to advancing the collaboration and development of critical technologies that will shape the future of defense,” he said.
The acquisition comes a few months after SAS began construction on its upcoming multi-use manufacturing facility in Huntsville, Alabama. The 40,000-square-foot facility is designed to support customer needs.
SAS also recently acquired Willbrook Solutions, which provides analytics services to defense, civilian and intelligence sectors.
