General Dynamics Information Technology has purchased Iron EagleX in a transaction intended to expand its portfolio of differentiated tech capabilities and enhance its ability to support intelligence and defense missions across warfighting domains.
GDIT said Monday IEX provides artificial intelligence and machine learning, software development, cloud and cyber services for the U.S. Intelligence Community and Special Operations Forces.
The IT business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) will integrate hundreds of IEX technical and cleared employees across 18 sites into its 28,000-strong workforce as a result of the acquisition.
Expanding Capabilities in Support of Special Operations Forces
GDIT President Amy Gilliland said the acquisition demonstrates the company’s commitment to advancing innovation for customers.
“Iron EagleX joining GDIT will provide our Special Operations Forces and Intelligence customers with broader capabilities, skills, and expertise from both businesses while offering employees greater opportunities for growth and mobility,” added Gilliland, a 2024 Wash100 awardee.
GDIT said the acquisition is part of its technology investment strategy and broadens its work supporting Special Operations Command and its partners.
“The combination of Iron EagleX and GDIT represents a new chapter in our company’s stated goal of having a ‘generational impact on national security,'” said IEX CEO Michael Grochol.
“Our team has always focused on delivering positive disruptive change in national security, and as part of GDIT, Iron EagleX will gain access to a tremendous amount of new customers and opportunities to expand on that mission and help make our nation a safer place,” added Grochol.
