Empower AI has appointed to its board of directors Elaine Duke, former deputy secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and once acting DHS secretary.
The company said Tuesday Duke was also named an inaugural member and chairperson of the external advisory board of Empower AI.
Commenting on Duke’s appointment, Jeff Bohling, CEO of Empower AI and 2024 Wash100 awardee, remarked, “While in government, Elaine Duke served our country by leading one of the pillars of our national security. As an adviser and a member of the board of directors and external advisory board, she will continue to contribute to this important mission, and we look forward to her participation.”
Duke spent 30 years in federal service, reaching the post of deputy secretary at DHS in 2017. She worked part-time at Elaine Duke & Associates, her own company and management consulting business, for nearly two years before this appointment.
Andre Jakubowski, chairman of the board at Empower AI and director at KKR, said, “Elaine Duke has a wealth of leadership experience across both private and public sector roles. We are confident that she will make a notable impact on the growth of Empower AI.”
