Mark Nackman has been named vice president and general counsel at General Dynamics‘ (NYSE: GD) NASSCO subsidiary, according to the executive’s LinkedIn post shared Thursday.
Nackman will oversee General Dynamics NASSCO’s legal, export, environmental engineering and contracts functions.
The executive has been with the aerospace and defense company for over a decade. Nackman first joined its Missions Systems business unit in 2011 as VP and general counsel. He spent more than four years in this role before embarking on a legal career as a partner with Jenner & Block.
After almost two years with the law firm, Nackman returned to General Dynamics as VP and general counsel of NASSCO. He later moved to Madrid, Spain to handle the same roles with European Land Systems, the automotive and arms manufacturing firm under General Dynamics. He spent more than five years with GDELS before his latest appointment.
Nackman also worked as VP and associate general counsel at Orbital ATK.
In addition, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a GG-13 SPO counsel and captain of the Judge Advocates. Before that, Nackman was with the Department of Justice as a special assistant United States attorney.
The federal prosecutor earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Purdue University and a Juris Doctor degree from Valparaiso University. Nackman also holds a Master of Laws in Government Procurement Law from George Washington University Law School and a Master of Studies in International Relations from the University of Cambridge.
