Jennifer Sample, former managing director at Accenture‘s (NYSE: ACN) federal business, has been appointed as chief technology officer of Empower AI.
The artificial intelligence services provider said Tuesday Sample will be responsible for driving Empower AI’s technology vision, strategy and execution in support of federal government customers.
Sample will oversee the deployment of emerging technologies to ensure digital transformation goals and agency mission requirements are met.
Jeff Bohling, CEO of Empower AI and 2024 Wash100 Award winner, emphasized the significance of the appointment, noting, “Federal agencies know the importance of emerging technology when it comes to operational performance, but they need a trusted partner. Dr. Sample has spent her career creating technical solutions that solve real problems for the federal government, and her expertise will advance agencies’ ability to address concerns in a changing world.”
Sample previously served as director of research and later managing director at Accenture Federal Services, where she oversaw the development and implementation of an AI strategy that helped achieve $1 billion in annual revenue and engaged stakeholders to meet the demands of the market. She also leveraged AI for data modernization and generative AI to support federal cabinet-level agencies.
Before that, the AI expert spent more than 20 years in various leadership roles at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. She initiated programs for emerging technology, intelligent systems and quantum computing, and managed defense contracts that focused on research in data analytics, artificial intelligence, biomaterials and human-machine interfaces.
Commenting on her new role at Empower AI, Sample expressed excitement over leveraging what she has learned to provide support to the federal government.
Sample earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles. She also received a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management.
