Dan Jablonsky to Succeed Joe Laurienti as Ursa Major CEO

Dan Jablonsky, former president and CEO of Maxar Technologies and a two-time Wash100 awardee, will succeed Joe Laurienti as chief executive of Ursa Major.

Jablonsky, an aerospace and defense industry veteran, will take the helm of Ursa Major and lead the company through its next stages of growth, effective Aug. 5, the rocket and missile propulsion manufacturer said Thursday.

Prior to assuming leadership of Maxar, Jablonsky served as president of satellite imagery company DigitalGlobe. His career also includes time with the U.S. Navy as a surface warfare officer and nuclear engineer and the Securities and Exchange Commission as an attorney.

“To continue advancing Ursa Major’s work in space, hypersonics, and solid rocket motors, now is the right time for the company to bring in a new leader with the expertise and track record to successfully guide the company into further reaches of scale and impact,” Ursa Major Founder Laurienti said of Jablonsky’s appointment.

Meanwhile, the new CEO expressed confidence in Ursa Major’s advanced technology and manufacturing approaches and its impact on the space and defense communities.

“[I] look forward to working with the team to enhance America’s national security and expand the United States’ critical space and defense infrastructure capabilities,” Jablonsky added.
