Allen will succeed John Langford, founder and former Electra CEO who will remain as chairman of the company, Electra said Thursday.
Previously, Allen served as chief strategy officer and senior vice president for strategy and corporate development at Boeing. During his over 17 years of stay at the aerospace company, he held several other positions, including president and general counsel of Boeing International, president of Boeing China and president of the Embraer partnership and group operations.
Allen will oversee the development of Ultra Short, a hybrid-electric aircraft designed to enhance seamless air travel connectivity, in his new role at Electra.
Langford highlighted Allen’s global business background and strategic leadership and said the new chief executive will drive Electra to its next phase of growth.
Allen joined Electra more than four months after the company secured a U.S. Army contract to develop its hybrid-electric short takeoff and landing aircraft. The eSTOL aircraft is being eyed to help expand U.S. military capabilities in conducting logistics in contested environments.
