BAE Systems‘ San Diego Ship Repair business has received a potential $225.6 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to repair, maintain and upgrade an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer.
Work on the USS Halsey (DDG 97) Fiscal 2024 Depot Modernization Period will be conducted in San Diego, California, until April 2026. the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
BAE will provide all labor, supervision, facilities, equipment, production, testing and quality assurance required for the ship’s modernization effort.
The firm-fixed-price, undefinitized contract modification has a $177.8 million base value and options, which would bring the cumulative amount to over $225 million if exercised.
The Navy will obligate its fiscal year 2024 other procurement and operation and maintenance funds at the time of the award.
Naval Sea Systems Command serves as the contracting activity.
In mid-August, USS Halsey (DDG 97) returned to Naval Base San Diego following a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet. It conducted operations across multiple warfare areas to ensure regional stability and support allies and partners throughout the Indo-Pacific region during its recent deployment.
