Sonya Branco is set to step down as executive vice president for finance and chief financial officer at CAE (NYSE: CAE), positions she has held since 2016.
Constantino Malatesta, chief accounting officer and vice president of the Controller Office since 2022, will take over Branco’s role in the interim while a permanent successor is sought, CAE said Thursday.
CAE President and CEO Marc Parent expressed his appreciation for Branco’s contributions to the company, saying, “Sonya led CAE’s finance organization through a period of significant growth and reached many important milestones. We have benefitted greatly from Sonya’s stewardship, her insightful mentorship of her colleagues and her deep commitment to the company.”
The finance chief’s contributions include planning and executing a capital allocation strategy that enabled CAE to weather the COVID pandemic.
Branco, who has been with the company since 2008, will vacate her position at the end of August but will provide support to ensure a seamless transition.
Regarding Malatesta, Parent said, “Constantino has worked closely with Sonya for many years, and he has a deep knowledge of CAE’s business and an extensive background in finance that will provide continuity and stability at CAE.”
Malatesta has been part of the company since 2006.
